Meet the Founder
Hi, I'm Nicole - the founder of The Better Start.
I created this program after seeing how many teens are capable and full of potential, yet often feel unsure about important life skills like preparing for job opportunities, managing money, and navigating the responsibilities that come with growing up.
The Better Start was built to help teens develop confidence, responsibility, and practical life skills — from communicating professionally and taking pride in their work, to learning how to earn, save, and make smart financial choices.
Like many parents, I wasn’t taught many of the practical life skills that become so important as you step into adulthood. I had to figure much of this through experience and lessons learned along the way. That’s what drives my passion to help teens build confidence early so stepping into jobs, opportunities, and independence feels empowering instead of overwhelming.
At the heart of it all, my goal is simple: to support families and help young people take meaningful steps toward a strong future— right here in our community.
